As a result, adds the World Health Organization, a child dies every eight seconds from drinking dirty water. It is estimated that 5,000 children die every day as a result of drinking unsafe water. And, every 21 seconds a child perishes from waterborne diseases such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery. A UNICEF Report found that about six million people are blind today from Trachoma, an eye infection spread mainly through poor hygiene caused by lack of adequate water supplies and unsafe environmental sanitation conditions.
The UN warns that unless action is stepped up, the number of people without access to safe water will increase to 2.3 billion by 2025, with the number of those who die from unsafe water expected to jump sharply as well.
Ensuring access to safe, clean water worldwide is critical. Not only is it essential for successful agriculture, food and energy production, It is a children's issue because water is vital for healthy development and survival.
CannedWater4Kids, a 501c3 non-profit charity, is an organization focused on bringing clean, safe water to children worldwide.
Clean water, packaged in aluminum cans, will become our symbol and billboard for spreading the word while developing strong grassroots awareness and participation. Product sponsors and individual donors will provide the funds & resources necessary to drive the program. Every donation we receive will help bring clean, safe water to thousands.
Whether providing funding to dig wells, supply water storage containers to save fresh rainwater for later use or to allow us the ability to buy purification equipment to treat water contaminated by bacteria, pesticides, animal waste, and waterborne disease-carriers, your contribution will make a difference. And ultimately will improve children’s health with sanitation systems that keep water sources clean.
Explore the contrast. We take clean water for granted:
Did you know that each of us in American uses about 80 gallons of water daily? That’s enough to sustain 16 African families for a day. In our homes, we go into the kitchen, turn on the faucet and drink clean refreshing water–instantly. In contrast, a mother in Zimbabwe might have to travel miles in search of clean, drinkable water to save her baby. Americans are blessed with easy access to clean water. Not the case worldwide.
Why donate to us?
Many organizations engaged in solving world water issues are focused on funding a single solution to the clean water problem. At CannedWater4Kids, we recognize that there are many viable solutions, each with unique advantages. So, depending on the situation, one solution may be more effective than another. As part of our stewardship, we optimize resources and knowledge and distribute them where they are needed most.
A lean, virtual organization, we’re small, agile and able to leverage resources to maximize the reach of donations.
